Student commits suicide by jumping on metro rail: Purple line service suspended for some time
Namma Metro Purple line services between Challaghatta and Majestic were affected for some time as student jumped on the Metro tracks. The passengers were requested to take other modes of transport.
The 19-year-old student died after he jumped on the Metro tracks in front of an oncoming train at Attiguppe station today afternoon. The deceased was identified as Dhurva, hailing from Delhi, a first-year law student.
The services on the purple line were available only between Whitefield and Magadi Road during that time and were resumed later.
The police were immediately informed and the youth was shifted to Victorial Hospital, but did not survive. Metro officials confirmed that, Dhruva had jumped on the track in an attempt to commit suicide.
Two months back January 5, a youth hailing from Kerala had jumped on the track even as a train was approaching, at Jalahalli Metro station.
